The Process

For those who are unsure of the process and timelines associated with importing a vehicle, we have created an outline of what happens

It will start with an initial consultation between us and you as the potential new client, where we go into further details, and discuss your dream car. During this time, we also establish specifications and prices, all to suit what you want.

We will then begin researching vehicles available that will suit your specifications and share all possible ones with you. If there is a particular one that you wish to go ahead with, we will start to make enquires regarding further details on the vehicle and a rough price estimate. We feed all this information back to you for you to make an informed decision.

If you wish to continue with this vehicle, we will put the bid in for the vehicle and then we wait. Auctions typically happen around midday Japan time, so we will anxiously wait up to see if we were successful with the bid.

Payment is then required for the vehicle and transport to the UK within a couple of days of a successful bid. Once this has been processed, we will organise the vehicle to be transported to a port in Japan, ready to head to the UK. Usually within 30 days, the vehicle is booked onto a cargo ship to a port of your choice in the UK. The length of the journey will depend on weather and other conditions but is approximately 2 months to arrive in the UK.

We will arrange all the documents necessary to get the vehicle through customs, complete the customs payment so it is ready to be released once it lands.

We have a number of plans available which outline what happens with the vehicle when it arrives, this can be discussed in the initial consultation but there is the option to change at a later date.

All vehicles must have an MOT prior to registration, then it is ready to be taxed and insured and you have imported your dream.
